No Wires! The GoMoorhead.com system consists of over 370 radio transceivers mounted to light poles around the city of Moorhead, Minnesota, and uses wireless (or Wi-Fi) technology to transmit the Internet connection to the residents of Moorhead. Wireless Internet isn't that different than the cable or DSL service some use, with one major advantage; you to take your Internet connection with you, wherever you are inside Moorhead!
Here is how GoMoorhead.com Internet Works:
- GoMoorhead.com sends the Internet connection using a fiber optic loop to over 370 routers placed throughout the city of Moorhead. These radios can be seen as you drive, or walk, through the city. They have been strategically placed on light poles to ensure maximum coverage.
- The over 370 Tropos MetroMesh routers receive the signal and rebroadcasts it into homes and business. These routers also push the signal into the squad cars of the Moorhead Police Department and other city vehicles, allowing them access to real time information across a secure network.
- Your GoMoorhead.com bridge or personal laptop computer receives the rebroadcast signal, and connects you to high-speed Internet service. Your GoMoorhead.com bridge will connect directly to your desktop computer, allowing any computer to connect to GoMoorhead.com.
